Points Reqired for European Football based on previous Years
So do we reckon we'll creep in the top 6?
does the previous several years totals matter in what we call the weird season?
Having played a lot of big sides away already do we fancy our chances based on the below?

6th doesn't automatically mean you get European football

I'd be surprised if we cracked 60 points.

will be lower than usual for top 6
higher than usual to avoid relegation

very true croe albeit not very often a side that finishes in top 6 doesn't make Europe from memory?

Someone rightly suggested we might have a champions league spot taken away from the English league if the clubs in Europe don't buck their ideas up. That would make things harder for us.

yeah I read that and with Arsenal playing Barca that leaves Chelsea and City to hopefully do well

"higher than usual to avoid relegation "

Why? As it stands 35 points would keep you up if the teams repeated their results over the 2nd half of the season.

Re: Points Reqired for European Football based on previous Years
another 30-35 points would do it.
players coming back will help, few of our "rivals" are due some injuries to key players.

who knows.

anything top 8 is a real achievment.

That's why I couldn't understand so many people being happy at Man Utd's early exit.

Re: Points Reqired for European Football based on previous Years
goose to think if we shifted a little dead wood whoever we class as that these days another striker not out the question in Jan? IMO that could be the difference?

we all obviously want to see Enner stay fit along with Carroll but whether they'll get the goals required it remains to be seen

one thing is for sure the whole side was collectively scoring well before the injuries kicked in?

goose 12:16 Wed Dec 30
Re: Points Reqired for European Football based on previous Years
well jarvis has gone so there is one bit of dead wood finally shifted.
not sure we are allowed to shift Jelavic as he as already played for 2 teams this season??

that leave JoB?? maybe Hendrie??

if you look at value for money then AC or Song would be at risk.

franksfat&slow&wank 12:17 Wed Dec 30
Re: Points Reqired for European Football based on previous Years
agreed don't think Jelavic can go anywhere

also a few would argue I'm barking up the wrong tree based on goals scored with Lanzini and Payet in the side?

"well jarvis has gone so there is one bit of dead wood finally shifted."

Jarvis went in September

and how could you send back Song?

goose 12:19 Wed Dec 30
Re: Points Reqired for European Football based on previous Years
Song is a loan deal is he not??

goose 12:19 Wed Dec 30
Re: Points Reqired for European Football based on previous Years
and theres me thinking the perm deal for jarvis was just announced.

whufcroe 12:22 Wed Dec 30
Re: Points Reqired for European Football based on previous Years
Our problem is wages, we are to our allowed limit and Jarvis has been off our wage bill since September, his wages have long been spent.

Song and Barca would have to agree to breaking the loan deal, as Song wants to be here and as Barca don't want him why would it happen?

Pie in the sky nonsense, a bit like people thinking Carroll will leave.

goose 12:24 Wed Dec 30
Re: Points Reqired for European Football based on previous Years
1) so you know the 'ins and outs' of Songs loan deal?? given he was injured when the deal was signed we would have some kind of break clause??

2) how do you know we didnt pay a portion of Jarvis's wages while on loan??

neither of us knows, and yet you know it is pie in the sky.

whufcroe 12:27 Wed Dec 30
Re: Points Reqired for European Football based on previous Years
1) I know the rule regarding season long loan signings, seems you don't

2) Sullivan said at the time there was no loan fee involved but Norwich were paying 100% of his wages.

Simple stuff really
